“A child’s is not a vessel to be filled, but a lamp to be lit.” By Kelsey Orban-Prezi
Meet Ms. Traci Robinson, the Dean of Students at Green Inspiration Academy (GIA), who stands behind the above quote. As a bright optimistic leader at GIA for nine years, she is one reason “inspiration” is in the school name.
Green Inspiration Academy is a tuition-free public charter school for grades K-8 in Warrensville Heights, serving the Greater Cleveland area. Our leaders make school a safe and motivational home away from home, and Dean Robinson is no exception. We asked her a few questions so everyone could understand just how lucky GIA is to have her on board.
What is your background?
I am a graduate of The Ohio University with a Bachelor’s degree in Child and Family Studies. After graduating college, I was the Lead Preschool Teacher and Administrator for Mt. Zion Child Enrichment Center for 7 years. During the 2013/2014 school year, I became the Green Enrichment Teacher for Green Inspiration Academy where I incorporated art and the concept of a green environment. In 2021, I became the Dean of Students for GIA. I am excited to begin my second year in this awesome position. I am also the Director and Founder of the S.H.E. Girls Club Inc. We serve as a mentoring organization for female scholars. I have now implemented B.O.W.S., that services our male scholars.
What do you believe makes GIA different from other schools?
The amazing teachers and staff as well as the nurturing, loving and family-oriented environment that allows the children to feel safe, respected and eager to learn.
If a parent/guardian asked you why they should enroll their student(s) in GIA, what would you say?
We offer small classes to allow for more individualized attention. Our teachers are the best of the best. Parents/Guardians will have the comfort of knowing that when their children enter our doors they will be in excellent hands.
In what way do you see yourself being an inspiration to the students? to the educators?
My compassion for learning, building teamwork, and fostering a positive atmosphere where everyone can reach their full potential.
How do you envision your impact on GIA this year?
To create a culture where all scholars thrive.
What are your hobbies, interests, and favorite ways to enjoy free time, when you are not working at GIA?
I love to teach painting classes. I enjoy cooking for my family and celebrating the winter holidays because I love to decorate.
Thank you, Dean Robinson. We are so grateful to have your infectious spirit and leadership at GIA! You are one more reason we chant, “Onward. Upward. Inspired!”
